In everyday life different sensations are experienced by everyone in relation to the many changes that happen in the environment around them throughout the day, week, year. The more apparent alterations cause reactions in people, and are therefore perceived by human senses providing information about the environment. The change of colours in a park, the variation in temperature, the smells, light and darkness, sounds.
All these events occur constantly and perpetually, making it impossible for our sense to process all of them, firstly because not all events are worth consuming mental energy to be interpreted; secondly, some of our senses are not always active, they can be switched off: eyes can be closed to rest and hands can avoid touching.
Hearing is the sense that is always active, the presence of dangers in the natural environment is probably one of the main reasons why the human body is provided with such a sense (P. Schaeffer 1982/1983).
“Man lives in an uneasy ocean of air continually agitated by the disturbances called sound waves.” This assertion, written by the acoustician Frederick Vinton Hunt around 959, emphasises the importance of sounds in the environment and people’s inability to control it.
After this statement, environmental sounds attracted the interest of scientists, who begun studies that now cover a disparity of fields, such as psychiatry, anthropology, sociology, geography, physiology, and many more (Augoyard 2005).

"Notturna" inspires images of night time drives and lonely highways, a trip through a deep darkness lit only by headlights, a thousand miles from anywhere else. It's an evocative track, a piece that's rich in imagery and ideas. Highly recommended... rikm
